Dulacca Long Lunch

RRR Women’s annual Dulacca Long Lunch showcases our community, champions the women who make it, highlights our challenges and triumphs and brings us together in the best possible way.

When it started three years ago, we wanted to highlight issues like having no potable water and water restrictions in full swing, limited mobile service, the logistics involved in our supply chains and our access to services. But we did much more than that. We showcased our tiny community, and many others by celebrating the women who keep them alive and vibrant. We started with a borrowed marquee, paid in beer to have it erected (yes, that is still legitimate currency in the bush), foraged local gardens to style our space and sourced a guest speaker who would inspire our rural attendees. Three years on and we are still doing that. We still have no potable water, barely any phone reception, water restrictions are still in place but we have grown to embrace it all.

RRR Women’s annual Dulacca Long Lunch showcases the small local community and celebrates International Rural Womens Day.

Our rural women are a resilient bunch, and our guest speakers reflect this. We chose speakers who have a lived experience and this year we are delighted welcome author Sally Warriner, “Not Just the Wife of the General Manager” to share her story with us over a meal of locally sourced produce prepared by Natalie Scotney and her team at the Dulacca Hotel.

You will be amazed at the talent of our locals, come and browse our stalls who will showcase and reflect the creativity within our region.

With a focus on local, all our proceeds are returned to the community and this year we are delighted to support the Drillham State School P&C.
